The sea smoke was incredibly dense this morning at 12 below zero (F). The sea smoke is caused by evaporative cooling -- the cold air temperature and warmer open water of Lake Superior create this beautiful type of winter fog. Duluth winters are strikingly beautiful! This long exposure photograph gives the sea smoke a ghostly appearance as it glides past the Aerial Lift Bridge from the Duluth Harbor.
