We enjoyed a peaceful encounter with this adult brown-phase black bear (Ursus americanus) during our border lakes adventure. It was a harsh summer day in the mid-90s. He had just foraged his way to the top of the hill, enjoying the abundance of blueberries along the way. He was likeely in hyperphagia, preparing for hibernation.
