In December, I eagerly layered-up to enjoy a breathtaking day of photography along Lake Superior's North Shore. The morning got off to a memorable start when the thousand foot Burns Harbor vessel quietly glided through the thick sea smoke by Split Rock Lighthouse just before daybreak. It was worth braving the -24° air temperature to witness this scene. It caused me to wonder about the many tales the lighthouse could tell about the unforgiving lake and those she has challenged.
