Airglow, also called nightglow, is a faint emission of light by a planetary atmosphere. It is caused by the sun's ultraviolet light exciting oxygen and nitrogen atoms and molecules high up in the atmosphere. This evening, the green hues were seen in all directions, as meteors streaked across the skies.<br />
